Found this on my ranch when I bought it. Best guess from the people that have seen it is that its the part that goes on the very top of a windmill. Looked cool so I left it in its place.

Dull lighting and angle on otherwise interesting subject.

There was something about this pile of rusted bits that attracted you to it. I'm having a hard time seeing what you saw. Part of the problem for me is the additional visual clutter. There's too much going on here, and nothing of strong enough interest to pull me in. Clening the area up a bit before shooting would have made the parts more of the focus.

Subject doesn't hold any interest for me, lighting is pretty bland. Perhaps shoot it at a different time of day with more interesting light?

boy, that thing looks beat to death! hope you're getting some good comments and suggestions, and that you're not getting overlooked in this monster challenge. one suggestion i'd offer would be to offer a bit more context for your subject. cropping in as you have it here makes it come across more as a documentary shot than an evocative shot. keep in mind, one of the 'challenges' is to connect with the voters, and that means having an image that will appeal to them. good luck in this and the coming challenges!

Seems like there is a lot going on here, having a hard time of "being captured" by the image. Image is very sharp and overcast sky helps the look and feel.

Compositionally strong, adn the basic tonality is good. It's uch a straightforward image that I wonder if it won't be hurt by those who are looking for more immediate impact. I wouldn't quite count myself amonst those, but I do perhaps think that the light is a touch blank and ordinary, and perhaps some pushing of contrast, or of saturation/desaturation might have given it more punch. Good work though.

A nice idea here - though it comes off as a little busy in the end - would have been better if you cleared some of the dead twigs from the subject and, if possible, used a shallower DOF to isolate it from the background.
