A flower plucked from my mother's garden, with a reflective plate (used as a scarecrow) as background.
Lens focal length noted as 157mm on my zoom lens. Photo cropped and resized appropriately to fir challenge specs.

I don't know what the background consists of, but this is a very novel approach.

i think the background is rather distracting

quite a beautifull composition, but it looks as if the backround is a sheet of ripple glass rather than honest backround blur. If I am wrong you deserve another point or two above 7. Great color balance.

The short definition of Bokeh from KenRockwell.com, which I am using for voting on this challenge: "Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light." Definitely seeing that here. Is the subject enhanced by the bokeh of the background? Yes- I'll be interested to come back and find out what your background is. Its very uniform so I'm thinking a piece of frosted glass or something. Not sure where all the color is coming from.

Fascinating bokeh. Subject seems too flat for best effect; I'd have played with increasing sense of luminance on subject.
