Halo around boy appears as if you used a brush tool of some sort.

Really poor use of whatever it was you did to get the color out. Plus this is basic editing.

i like the idea you were working with, but if you know how, i would suggest trying out keeping the colour in just the kid's hat, though that wasn't allowed with basic editing (at least, i don't think so...). also, you've got a few spots of sepia in other places. you're better with photo editing than i am, but still need practice.

When doing selective coloring, try to only color your subject (there is a halo around the child) a good way of doing this is using a 3pt brush and zooming way into the photo. Also, make sure that you've colored all of the subject (the rear end of the child it still b&w)

The editing has destroyed this photo.

I think the desat work and recolouring here has really worked against you. The halo arounfd the coloured in child is way too obvious. Its either brilliant because it was meant to emulate bad hand colouring or just bad and I can't decide which at the moment.

Should have done the desaturation mash with magnetic lasso to really isolate the child. The loose creates a very distracting glow effect. There is also a funky yellowy glow on his shoulder and hat. I think the original shot is great. Just poor post-editing. Spend a bit more time getting used to the magnetic lasso (if you have Adobe PhotoShop) and try it again, it will be really neat. You got a very good shot, a clever idea for post-editing I think it's got a lot potentiel.

I'd like to know exactly how you did this with basic editing.
