I have problems with the point of focus. For me, the red tips should be the focus of the image - yet they're not on the depth of field. The field of focus begins past them, evidenced by the yellow 'buds' that are in sharp focus.
We used to use a photographer's loupe for focusing on ground glass; it would be a help in macro focusing also, if you're using the LCD. Inexpensive one can be found and are great for critical focusing.
This seems a weak splash of color against a blurred background, to me. Nothing grabs my eye. Sorry I can't be more positive. |

Beautiful shot but the background seems a bit too color neutral. Imagine if it had been a complimentary color to your subject. Still, technically very good and a pleasing crop. |

The gray tone of the background is not complimentary to the subject, and the subject needs a bit better focus in my opinion. The angle is ok, and the subject is interesting. |

A very nice shot with to narrow a depth of feild IMO. Some of the small arms are in great focus while others are not. They seem to go out of focus in both the fore and background. I feel that the brokeh back ground works well with the shot aand the colors are great. I feel this is still a slightly above average photo even on DPC. Kee |

The short definition of Bokeh from KenRockwell.com, which I am using for voting on this challenge: "Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light." We do see that here. Is the subject enhanced by the bokeh of the background? While the subject stands out, the background is very subtle and uninteresting. If there is a relationship between front and back it is impossible to discern. |
