The 10th of January is Coming-of-Age Day in Japan when people turning 21 this year visit shrines and go to ceremonies to celebrate entering adulthood. The women mainly dress up in expensive kimonos; the men mostly wear suits, I think. These young ladies are tying slips of paper that tell their fortunes for the year.
