Firstly, I was trying to avoid the inevitable Flowers and Bugs which will be entered into this competition, and do something different.(nothing wrong with either, but there will probably be a lot of them)
Secondly, I am a little limited by DOF with the Ixus v3 camera, so I appoached this shot in a different way.
Taking inspiration from the Stonehenge, Ribbon in the Landmarks Competition (11/29/2004 - 12/5/2004), I made the background I wanted in Photoshop, and displayed it on our TV.
I then just placed the spagetti spoon in front of the TV and took the shot.
Unfortunatley, the picture showed all the TV lines so I had to use a little Gaussian Blur to blend the background.
Normally I would have cropped this much tighter, but to show more of the "bokeh" I have left much more background.
Oddly, the bokeh looks better in the thumbnail .... |

Composition seems weak. Maybe not. Nice bokeh and color. Great contrast.
Try experimenting with the composition. Something about it make me feel uneasy.
Looking at this again, I'll give you a bump up. |

| Subject is too dar. nice color and very nice bokeh. Maybe a small diffused front light or a flash could have made this better. |
