I may be wrong but I think this is just shallow DOF

a book-eh with no bokeh; pure shallow DOF

It's an interesting shot, but I don't think bokeh is supposed to be about depth of field; it's some wierd eastern nonsense about the contribution of out-of-focus elements to the impact, harmony or context of the in-focus subject. Ommmmmm. 6.

Not really my idea of bokeh, well taken shot though.

funny. :) and harry potter too, that's cool. if i knew what bokeh was, i would be apt to think this was more shallow dof than bokeh, but since i don't, i won't speculate. ;) nice twist on the challenge.

The short definition of Bokeh from KenRockwell.com, which I am using for voting on this challenge: "Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light." Marginal bokeh possible at the far edges of the book, but that's reaching. Is the subject enhanced by the bokeh of the background? I don't feel this meets the challenge. And unfortunately the shot itself isn't particularly inspiring or grabbing.
