while technicaly a great image I found a few aspect I didn't care for in the shot. The largets being the selective desatration. While I am a huge fan of the style, I feel that choosing the pacifier as the object of intrest was not the best choice. Such a soft baby in a heartining seen with its mother. Then theres this huge pink pacifier leaping out at you. I think that the blanket or perhaps the baby would have been better choices for leaving color. Othe rhtan that the lighting is good the focus is great. The scene works well and dosn't feel like a snapshot. Other than the pacifier I would have to say this is a great shot.... |

Very cute. I don't think the selective desat was necessary. Also that hand in the upper right is a little distracting. |

I don't really think the selective desat workd well with this image. the pink looks kinda strange. Otherwise a cute photo |

what a precious moment to capture. i'm usually not a fan of selective desat, though, unless it is something that subtly adds to the image. here, though, i think you could have done just as well without it. good luck! |

I think the selective desaturation is detracting here. How does leaving the pacifier in color add to the image? |

I'm generally not a big fan of the selective desaturation photos. Not only are they done too much, but, more importantly, they are often misemployed. In this case, leaving the paci in color draws the eye away from the beautiful child and the beamer mother, and straight to the splash of pink. This would be a far better photo in straight B&W. |

Nice portrait. I would not have colored the pacifier. It distracts my eye from appreciating the beauty and feeling of the real subjects. |

Love the shot, not a fan of the selective desaturation though. |

Selective desaturation is always subject to the viewer's interpretation, but generally, one expects the solitary color to stress the most important part of the image. This is a tender Madonna & child type image, but to me, the pacifier is what is being showcased. |

Sweet baby, and VERY sweet picture. I personally think the pink binky adds to it. Good luck. |

For me, the glasses, the hand, and the rail are all a bit distracting. But I'm sure this is a picture that mom and her child will adore forever. Good luck on the challenge! |

nice to the family but not one to score well on DPC. I find no need for keeping teh dummy pink. |

A wonderfull image spoilt IMHO by the desat, maybe if it was also desaturated to about 30% but it is to outstanding for me. |

Be a little bit more careful around the edges when you're recoloring a photo. Maybe you could try and smaller and/or softer brush. |

I just don't understand the decision to make the pacifier the only thing in colour. Surely it's not the most important element of the shot? It makes no sense! |

definitely a special picture of mom and new baby for the family. the background is very cluttered and distracting though. |

Touching moment. I like the beautiful soft skin. I am not sure that the colored soother adds anything here however. |

Not a bad image, but an awful choice for the selective desat. The colour of the dummy(pacifier) is atrocious, and I really don't see why you'd want to draw attention to it anyway. Next time take the thing out of the baby's mouth before shooting.
Good luck with your future efforts. |
