The Movie "Harvey" was made in 1950 by Henry Koster. It starred Jimmy Stewart, who played a man that was visited by an 6'3.5" tall invisible rabbit. The whole story was based on a play done by Mary Chase.

More more information (and the poster that I based the picture on) see the following link:

So the biggest challenge for this shot? The lighting. The freaking lighting, it took so long to get it right. Any sort of fill flash on me and it'd wash out the shadow. I had to keep myself lit and shadow casting, along with the cutout shadow casting, and the view of the camera sans the cutout but with me, my shadow, and the cutout's shadow.

At this point, I thought: Maybe I should just do a literalism on a title.

But it was too late to turn back, and I reminded myself of the purpose of DPChallenge: to better improve my skills as a photographer. Doing something easy wouldn't be improving those skills. Doing something that's near impossible... that's another story.

Right, so, where was I. I'll start from the beginning of this shot, to give you a chronological idea, from conception to uploading.

Conception: I sort of slacked off on this challenge... I didn't start thinking about it until the weekend. I thought of doing something about Dr. Strangelove, but I didn't have Slim Pickens available to ride an atomic bomb, mein fuhrer... heh. I was looking through my DVD collection and this image hit me like a bag of trout.

Ech, I'm tired. More when I feel like it.

Oh, that movie is one of my family's favorites! Great shot. The model's expression is so Jimmy Stewart - like, so pleasant, optimistic, and almost childlike!

Ahhh. A giant rabbit. Looks like some dust specks up there too.

At first I thought the image was relatively well done but it didn't hold any real interest for me. Over the week though this has grown on me. While the photo doesn't have to relate to the movie, only the title. I think you've done a good job relating to both.

A very clever idea - never saw the movie, but it's about an imaginary rabbit, right? Unfortunately, I think the fuzzy edges of the shadow makes it seem like the rabbit is sitting way closer to the camera than the human, which I guess you had to, in order to make cast such a large shadow? I'll stop rambling now. To recap: Great idea, nice execution, just a minor quibble.

Yay! Harvey!! Love the dude's face, but bunny could be more bunnylike. Nonetheless, it's one of my top choices. 9!
