B/W Club!
this is a striking shot and i totally agree with you that the color is much stronger than the b/w. gorgeous gorgeous color here -- no reason to mess with it. |

Greetings from the Critique Club!
Definitely the first thing that I notice about this picture is the colors. The colors are great. The range of tones in the sky is just wonderful.
Since the colors are so strong, probably the strongest aspect of this image, you want to accentuate them as much as possible and remove distractions. The bottom 1/5 or so of the image is dark and unappealing, so it doesn't belong there. Taking out that part would also (as blemt suggested) would improve the composition by taking the horizon down from its current hovering place aroudn the 1/2 mark. It would draw the focus back to the sky, where all the color and interest is.
Without doing anything other than that slight change, I think you'd have a much improved picture. Going a bit further than that (this is something for "next time," I guess), I wonder what this scene would have looked like a few seconds later, just after the sun went beyond the hills. You might not have lost anything that way, and just avoided having the burned out parts of the picture caused by the sun and its reflection. Something to keep in mind, perhaps.
Just keep taking pictures :) |

I confess, I'm a sucker for sunsets. This one generates a nice feeling of serenity. Nice color balance, pretty clouds. I might crop the bottom a smidge more, because I think you have slightly too much of the 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 balance going. Basically the horizion is dead smack in the middle. Very nice scene though. |

Nicely timed and composed photograph, with good detail and not over-saturated. ((8)) |

Great sunset, but a little noisy. Reflection is fantastic. |

I like this shot but because of the high contrast from the sun on the clouds in gives a blurry impression in the sky. A beautiful tranquil picture tho to say the least and a shot that you could get lost in just looking at it. Best of luck and keep up the good worlk in 2005. |

Pretty, nice composition. I wish the dark corner in the upper right was fixed and that the blue of the sky wasn't quite so noisy. |

Sunsets are one of those subjects that have to be really spectacular to make me go wow anymore. This one, though one of the better ones I've seen lately doesn't have that pop...

This is a beautiful sunset... but I'm wondering it you could have shot it in a different way... I would have liked to have seen the sun in a more prominent spot. and maybe zoomed in a bit on that and made it a verticle would have been nice... the dark upper corner in the right bothers me... and I think you could have played a round with this a bit more. Pretty sunset/rise though! |

Great sunset...If this was taken from your cottage, let me know what weekend I can come visit this summer. Wonderful colours and clarity...Worth framing and hanging on the wall. Well done. |

Perhaps the best of the sunsets. I wish there was a little more separation in the dark areas to the right. |

Not a bad sunset shot - I think theres a little too much black space on the right, but this remains a solid shot. |
