Tall Ship Empire Sandy sailing around Lake Ontario last summer. Was taken on a cool night with fog increasing in thickness in the distance. Empire Sandy was also my entry in the Magazine Cover Revisited challenge in March 2004.

Shot in raw mode using the Digital Rebel and a Tamron 28-200mm lens. I don't have this camera and lens anymore, I upgraded to the 10D and L lenses the following week after this shot was taken so this was one of the last photos taken with that camera and lens. I don't know if this is my best, just one of the ones that I really like.

Post processing: levels, curve, color saturation, minimal cloning of a "dirt" on the water and a blotch on the sky. I increased the saturation (maybe went overboard) on the blue for the added cool look. Ran through Neat Image, cropped and resized.

Beautiful colors!, I love how the boats contains such warm colors compared to the cold colors from the background. Great photo!

A beautiful shot and great colors but the contrast is very bright which I find puts a blurry effect onto the photo. I like this photo. It's a photo that one can get lost in and simple stare and think. Well done and keep up the good work in 2005. <8>

Well seen and composed shot. The sky's color seems a bit off and perhaps a little harsh. Good detail in the sails & rigging by the way.

Pretty ship, but the colors feel too saturated to me.

I would crop out the other ship... I'd love to see what this looks like in B&W

I really like the colours of the sky and glow from the setting sun (or sunrise). I find the smaller sailboat a distraction form the Empire. Good Luck.

Returning for comment.
Stunning clarity and colour. If I was to be nit picky I would only say there are some very dark areas but I think they actually help. Well done. Bumping up from holding number.

Very odd looking colours, almost looks like a model ship.7

Very nice photo! Might have been better to crop the small boat out and leave a bit more open in front of the larger one. A bit too much cyan too.

Gorgeous. It is so crystal clear and focused that it looks 3-dimensional. I love the colors too. Good luck.

Great clipper portrait, i like it how it has it has its sails out at the front. The light is very good, I like it how the yellow/orange on the ship contrasts with the soft blue of the sky.
Sail 2005 in Amsterdam this year, can't wait.
