I never expected such a high score for this shot and I think, this one doesn't deserve it. But nevertheless thank you very much for your highly interesting comments. A lot of them are completely oppositional. Some of you like the colored umbrella, others would like the shot better without it. My first choice for this challenge was this shot: //www.200bar.de/nds/show_pic.php?id=111 . Unfortunately I didn't achieve the desired effect without without spot editing. So I had to submit this IMO a little poor photo...

the bright colorful umbrella detracts from the bridge

Very interesting coloration. Great job.

Without the umbrella I would like it much better, its such a nice composition and good colour, the umbrella pulls the eye away from the bridge

Very interesting shot. Great job at creating a point of interest with the umbrella. It\'s a great starting point to lead the eyes down the lines to the bridge. Good job. Jacko. 9

I'm a bit confused as to why this photo needed validating. A highly original and very effective shot. Well done.

This is a cool shot - but I don't really like the umbrella. I love the bridge and the tracks though! 7

This is an interesting photo, but I find myself wondering what the role of the umbrella is. I think this image would be a very strong black and white without the umbrella as well... the umbrella offers a nice touch of color to the monochrome scene, but I simply can't determine what meaning it has or what role it plays in the shot... good work, none-the-less :) - setzler

I would love this if the umbrella wasn't there. The moss, the old wood, and the grey leaves are incredible. Damn that umbrella!

Wow that umbrella really pops!

I personally don't like the umbrella but I love the rest of the picture.

Brilliant use of colour! Love the combination of greens and blues, with an almost B&W background. Nice use of the tracks and the curve in the bridge. Touch of fall colours in the leaves adds that little extra depth to the photo. You've done yourself proud. Good luck in the challenge!

Got to be honest with you, I think you had a great enough photo without the umbrella. I like the way you caught the moss on the wood in front of your camera and the way the rails lead right down under the bridge is great. Was there any way of showing slightly more of the bridge?
Your photo is nice and clear, it's crisp, sharp, and in focus, but that umbrella really bothers me.

I really like this one. I like the "ordered" blue in contrast with the chaos of the rest of the photo. 8

I like the concept, I like the coloring, but you have lost the bridge as the center of attention. (you have almost lost the bridge altogether)

I really love this effect. I'm going to have to remember to try this. :)

The umbrella was not what I was expecting to see! 10

Great idea to include an object that is totally alien to its surroundings. The first thing you look at is the bridge on the top and it gives a B&W expectation. What a shock it is when you go down and are confronted by a big blue umbrella!
Great photo!

I think the image woould have been stronger if you desaturated all grass as well leaving only the umbrella to stand out

AH, very interesting picture... don't like the umbrella though, it takes away from the rest of the picture.
