Hi Paige,
Critique by Silver Fox

First, let me congratulate you on this photograph. It scored pretty high on the Challenge and proved to be a favorite.

The composition is excellent and has great depth of field and contrast.

The colors are excellent with the blue sky and hills in the background and then the buildings of the City and the blue waters of the bay.

In my opinion being able to get the color of the steel cables into your photograph were an âextraâ for the viewer to âseeâ.

Unfortunately for me, I did not see this the first time around, and I only gave you a four.

I also think the addition of the Steel Column at the right is a magnificent show of power and strength.

Focus: thereâs nothing to say, everything is fine, the cables look softly in focus, the steel column is great and everything else is just dandy, a great job.

For lighting â what can one say, itâs a daytime shot, the sun is out, thereâs smog around, you do the best with what you have, and thatâs
exactly what youâve done here.

Iâve checked your home page out and you have some great photographs there, so keep up the good work and keep having fun. Hope this piece of work finds a place on a wall in your home.

Regards,
Ed

Ps. Please start giving us your aperture/shutter info.as it would help a lot in our critique's. Thanks

An interesting twist to the challenge -- I like it! There are many angles of the Golden Gate Bridge that we're so used to seeing -- this is one that I don't recall viewing before. Thanks for a refreshing shot!

Kind of creepy the way the support wires disappear behind the headland, and that they seem more out of focus than the main support. Good shot though, really enjoyable.

Absolutely fantastic composition. I love it. The shape and colour that has been added by the bridge in the foreground makes this a powerful image for me.

Sorry, what I see here is a cityscape. I do see the guidewire for the bridge and the bridge column, but it doesn't make any sense to me. . .

I like the colour and the perspective shown by the pairs of cables.

How did you get both foreground hill, background city and the tower in sharp focus yet the bridge support cables are so soft-focused they seem translucent?

Different.
Is this San Francisco?

This is nice but something isn't working for me. Maybe too busy of a background. Perhaps a more shallow depth of field to take the background down a notch.
