I must admit that I really did not have any choice in the subject of this photograph… As I was passing by the dining room on the morning of January 19, I noticed how interesting my amaryllis “Miracle” looked… It had two new opened blooms prettily displayed on the background of the old stem with faded and shriveled first set of flowers… And I thought, wouldn’t it be great if they had an “old and new” challenge today or something like that… Then I came back upstairs with my morning cup of coffee, turned my pc on, went to dpchallenge, and what did I see? “Old and New” - Create an image showing a juxtaposition of old and new.
What an amazing coincidence… so, a flower or no flower, I had to go with that… not that I expect to win a ribbon, oh no… but still, I am not the one to fight against such a sign…
Then, of course, there was a little matter to take a million of pictures from different angles with different lighting, trying to make it look more original… in the end, I chose this simple one… so, there you go, that is the whole story…
I wonder how many similar pictures there will be in the challenge…

I love these colours: reds, greens and whites together! Nice composition, and a good example for opposites working well when one part is out of focus. Whites could be more clear, expecially in the bottom left corner, and it's a bit overexposed on the right side, but alltogether nice one. |

Being slightly out of focus really takes away from this picture. |

I don't know why, but I get the feeling from this picture that the flower in the back is looking at the flower that has wilted and laughing. :) |

Wish the focus had been on the new instead of the old wilted bloom...just love the Amaryllis one of my favorite blooms |

I think it would be better all in focus. |

Lovely shot. A little more DOF would have been good though. |
