Challenge: Old and New (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Location: Lounge table.
Date: Jan 25, 2005
Aperture: F/8.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 8 seconds.

Date Uploaded: Jan 25, 2005

Old typewriter sitting on the table in the lounge, with the front panel from our piano sitting behind it. The only light is from two candles, one to the right, and one out of frame on the left.

The new bit is the MS mouse, which is plugged into a laptop to get the LED to light.

This is the first entry I've done for a challange taken in raw.. I got some weird magenta artifacts in the full sized jpg converison using dpp. not sure what's going on there, as they don't appear in the jpeg image (jpeg+raw setting). I must play with it a bit more, but it's late, so I can't be bothered.. The artifacts don't show in the 640px version anyway..

Cropped, scaled, light USM. Used 'click' white balance off the white paper.

I'm sure I'll get comments that it's not 'warm' enough in colour. Oh well.

Lets see how we go then.

Not that it needs anything to make it more interesting, but wouldn't an "antique" tv look good as a monitor?:)

I love how you have a mouse hooked up to an old type writer! The image isn't very sharp though. 7

I think this would be a lot better without the candle

Having the mouse lit adds a nice detail. :)

Very creative setup too bad the candle was so bright, good job.

Neat idea. My only suggestion would be that the subjects appear too close together making it feel a little cramped and unnatural.

Wonderful idea, I had a similar idea but wasn't sure how to pull it off, you did though. Good luck

I'll bet it has a less-than-perfect spell checker.
