OH man...the sky was like this for probably about 4 minutes at the most. I noticed it while I was sitting at a red light about 3 and a half minutes from my home -- so I hurried home to grab my camera, hoping I wouldn't get ticket.

I ran inside, grabbed my camera and took about 15 shots as I panned the horizon behind my house. As I shot, the sky became less and less interesting with every passing second (noticeably too).

This is the first one I took because with every second, it lost a lot of interest and detail.

--

Post Processing: Well, unfortunately I'm not an expert at skies or else this would probably look more like heida's work and maybe even be a top 10.

The only real thing I did was curves, crop & resize, then add the border. I dodged out a couple stray lights on the hillside from the houses that had their porch lights on.

--

I think this photo should do pretty good but I've been very wrong in the past -- I think it lost a lot in making it 640 pixels and of course I broke the rule of thirds a bit -- but we'll see what happens.

Hey! Nice to see you're behind this beautiful shot, I'm really happy for you, and a bit envious too. That was one of my favorite shots, it should have been higher. Congradulation man! You are really improving. You love shooting, it shows and it pays off. Good luck with your next ones!

P.S. Try to get a band to use this as an album cover. Even if you would have to crop out the left part to square it, it would still look great.

This is such a wonderful sunset! However, I only see three colors: pink, grey, and black. Try to capture more hues and values in sunsets, then it will bring out more detail in your photo, such as making the clouds pop.

I love the immensity of the sky. The thin horizon line looks crushed by the it. Faboulous patterns in the clouds. I don't know why, but when I saw this picture, I thought of an old vinyl record sleeves, those that folded. Really cool.
