My outtake can be found here: //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=140302

This is by far the most difficult shot I have ever attempted to take in my short career of photography. The lighting, shooting, and editing, took several hours and a lot of effort. I wanted to break away from the normal and cliche wine glass shot and this is my first attempt at anything of the like. I had to make a make-shift softbox out of a desk lamp and I shot in the dark trying to get the precise exposure.

I'm not sure if this will score as highly as my outtake would have, but for sheer effort, I felt I wanted to submit this.

Shot with the Sigma 105.

neatly and carefully done, as far as the glass is concerned. There seems to be an added line of near-black each side of the image which annoys ne slightly - why not make it the same shade as the rest of the blackness? Given such extreme care with the lighting, it feels a slight let-down.

Nice picture! I wish the bottom of the glass were in focus too, since more red is visible there..

For me this type of photo would be better if the DOF was greater. The softer part at the bottom was a bit of a distraction. 6

Nice photo...I would have liked to see everything in focus. Also, too bad that so many used this same subject. Tough to complete against many other similiar pix. (7)

backgound seems untidy. and I think it may be better if more of the glass was infocus.

Spoiled for me by such a shalow DoF, sorry, otherwise it would have been very creative.

Beautifully lit and I love the detail on the surface of the liquid, very nice touch. Gets an 8 from me.
