Took this by dropping the feathers and photographing them with a black background.
As my flash fires at the beginning of the exposure, I rotated the image by 90 degrees.
Cloned out some spots.
Burnt the background to get it completely black.
dodged the trail a little to bring out the colour.
Sharpened.
Oh yes, I used Neat image at the begining too.

Intriguing shot! The light going up to the feathers looks almost like the trunk and branches of a tree. The blue and the yellowish feather look a little too bright or over-saturated, but that could just be me. The orange-ish feather looks perfect.

Wow...this is very nice. I'd love to hear exactly how you did this...I have my guesses....but I'd like to know for sure. The feather on the far right is a little hot....but I can see how it'd be tough to get this perfect. Great shot! Should do well.

I can't decide how you've done it. Is it just camera motion? Whatever, it's technically very good, and visually startling. And it satisfies the challenge well. Having said all that, it triggers no emotions or even thoughts (other than, "How'd he/she do that?"). Lots of style but not much substance is what this image says to me. Of course, that could be my problem, not yours! 6

Really nice effect, think I'd like to see it upside down though.

Cool effect. For me the only thing that doesn't work is the blown out whites on the yellow feather. Still, this is an inspired image. The red feather is amazing.

Neat effect. The composition is great...I'd perhaps like to see a little more definition of the detail in the blue feather and the yellow perhaps not qutie so bright, but really this is a great shot.
