 A snowy day. I took the camera to work and the outdoor heated pool was creating a thick mist with the sun shining through from behind the trees. The original shot was beautiful but I wanted to emphasize the sense of light more, so destaruated with channel mixer, before adding back a little silvery blue with hue and saturation. Adjusted contrast, a little burning and dodging and then resized and sharpened lightly. My first challenge as a member.

Stephen: You have simply outdone yourself with this effort. A very silvery image that imparts an acute sense of tranquility and subtle beauty. The kind of image where a visitor will exclaim, "My, is that your work? I have never seen such delicate beauty." Well, congratulations on your red with this prime wall hanger.

This! is excellent. Your sense of using the heated pool's own mist as a way to create the beautiful mist in the foreground is excellent choice. Very beautifully photographed!

Wow! I am SO excited to have won a ribbon with this shot. I finally made the plunge to become a member just before this challenge was announced and this was my first member entry. I am thrilled to have broken 7 and would have been happy with a top 10 finish (one of my 2005 goals) but a red ribbon....WOW!

Thanks to everyone for their comments. This challenge had some incredible shots in it and I am honored to be in such fine company :)

beautiful photo. the only thing i would change is to crop the top a little more so that the branch in the foreground doesn't show. i think it's a little distracting. otherwise, very nice.

The moody effect here is nice. The silhouette works well with the mist and adds to the clouds and contrails in the sky

Wow - brilliant. Wonderful play of light and shadow. Compositionally, not sure I like the tree on the left getting cut in half. Kind of disrupts the flow, but otherwise it's beautiful. -9

I love, love, love this shot and quite honestly have no helpful comments to make. Some of the things I love about it are the way you captured the fog, the blue-grey tone you've chosen, and the fact that you didn't clone out the airplane zig-zag lines.
