It had been a busy day and Jack's new Christmas present had been uttering its usual grunts, whistles and mutterings at his programmable command. The excitment his new companion had delivered had finally sent him into a dream-filled sleep full of shiny white, cutesie robotic figures dancing in synchrony, chanting 'U-huh", "Beep" and "Yeah".

But now, from the dark recess of the young boy's room, came an altogether new sound. A deep, clawing, forboding, digitised growl that was neither machine nor human. It built in all too steady increments until the unearthly sound filled the boy's mind. As he stirred from his comfort he forced open his eyes, unadjusted as they were to the dim light in the room, in order to discern from where the shrill, cybernetic roar was coming.

The source of his awakening was to be the last object he would ever see. The searing heat from the initial blast of plasma immediately scorched his retina - forever imprinting the image of friend turned foe. The bolts of light pierced first the darkness, then the curtains which dissolved in unison to the floor. Fragments of blazing material ignited the youngster's beloved Buzz Lightyear duvet cover which rapidly receded into ash.

The rebellion had begun...

Yes, too many beers I'm afraid.

I don't generally consider toys to make good subjects but this one is quite facinating! I like the lighting and exposure, quite excellent. 7
