Samantha is wearing an LED earring that flashes colors. I tried various attempts at long exposures in a dark room and using my flash handheld as a burst of light in the middle of the exposure, but ended up going with this one which was just a simple side lit setup. Destaurated all the the blue colors, sharpened, and ran though Noiseware to slightly soften the features and cleanup some of the ISO 400 noise.

By forcing this to fit the challenge, you made a very good picture look, well, not so good.

I think it would be better if her head were turned a little, or a lot. Straight on faces, or the so called mugshot, are not that flattering to the model. You took nice advantage of her lovely eyes.

Nice portrait. It stands alone as being good without the blue light.

I would have left this just B&W. The color does not work for me or the light on the side of her face. It seems like a good photo other wise

I love the b&w with color. What's this about?

A very interesting photo. What is the subject thinking?

The idea is good but unfortunatly IMHO the light looks placed and independant of the photo. It could be that the desat has caused the light and its colour to stand out to much. Good idea though.

i actually would like this photo a lot more without the "blue light special". But hey, you had to meet the challenge! Nice photo anyways.

I don't know if I like the positioning of the earing (?). I think the photo is lovely, and would be wonderful as a pure B/W shot, but if you had a similar light source just behind her head to her right (our left) so that it cast a blue halo, I think it could be exquisit - 7

Wow, what you have is a beautiful black and white portrait and the blue light is distracting me from seeing all the fine detail, her eyes in particular. The lateral lighting is really nice.
