My friend Stacey hit this guardrail on his motorcycle and was killed instantly. I made this cross for the site as a memorial.

The photo was shot early in the morning using the 50/1.8 lens.

I guess this perhaps stretches the definition of a sign, but I think it's a strong image.

From one motorcycle rider to another....this cross shows so much to me. I have lost friends, and I think about them often.

Ride safe, enjoy the twisties up there, and I will join you one day for a ride.

Thanks to all who voted, and an extra huge thanks to those who commented. I'll admit to some disapointment with the score, and the fine comments helped ease my mind.

I understood the risk of entering an image that might be considered "religious" by voters. I'm not a religious person, but Stacey was an active and respected member of his church, so it suits his memory.

I guess that I was hoping to not be penalized for the image of a cross. I was hoping that the voters could distinguish between a scene that contains a religious item and a scene that onerously promotes ones' own religion, and just vote on the image.

We see far too many of these types of signs. Well done.

I find the shallow depth of field a little distracting here, as my eye is drawn away from the memorial along the crash barrier to where it is out of focus. If there wasn't a continuous line, this may not happen. I hope you get what I mean and that I don't sound too pretentious.

Altho its not a "road sign" it is a sin on the road and extremely well done. A great shot that really gets one to think. Excellent color and clarity and a well thought out photo. Well done and good luck in this challenge. <8>

very simple yet very powerful. Was this a set-up or something existing? Nice job with a very emotive image.

This is a very sad photo..but Its very good in portraying a "road sign" beause so many deaths happen on the road it is basically a sign that people can and have died if your not careful. And you can also tell that it has been there for a pretty lon time.
