I knew as soon as I saw the "Pink" challenge that I'd be taking a picture of my daughter. I didn't count on us being sick as dogs which made for a very unhappy model (not to mention the unhappy photographer coughing constantly while trying to get a decent shot).

Anyway, the thing she's standing in front of is a piece of artwork my mother ordered for her which has "Princess Zolivia" painted across the top. I had her stand in front of her name because I wanted exactly what you see in the photo.

Basically this is what I did:
rotated 2 degrees to the right, cropped, used unsharp mask (84%), slightly blurred her hair and face which was a little too sharp from the unsharp mask, saturated the flowers and her cheek with the sponge tool, blurred the flowers slightly to reduce grain, upped contrast (+30), cloned out a teensy bit of a letter that was showing right above her nose, dodged eye to make it whiter, cloned out slight imperfection on banner (on painting), burned and dodged a little around lips since she was a little pale during the shoot, cloned out darkness around her eyes, dodged darkness around eyes, and burned eyelashes

This is the first photo I've done a lot of post processing on, and I'm still not sure about it, but I want to see how it does.

I sent you an email about this, but I wanted to leave a comment on the photo. I think this is really great--I like all the different sources of pink, including the blush on your daughter's cheeks. I especially like the way it's composed here--the way she fits in with the background. I see what others are saying about the shadow, but I didn't even notice it until I read the other comments, so while I think it would improve the photo to control them, I don't think it is an issue here.

It looks to staged for me... almost forced.

I like this shot and have scored it high but the shadow of the girl's face on the background is a distraction that's hard to overlook

This is the one time where I forgive the red tones in the facial area. The entire image delivers a good impact. 7

Its a very cute idea, and a good attempt. The shadow, and the oversaturation are its downfalls. Just my pov. 6

Shame about the ugly shadow caused by the lighting. Nice subject and background, although she really needs to be a bit further away from the writing.

cute image but very busy background. also, move her away from the wall next time so the shadows are not so harsh.

Lots of pink here! Something about her face looks almost unreal, and the shadow is a bit distracting.

I would have loved to see just her instead of the painted backgroud, I think it takes away from her... She does look cute though!
