Hoping to do better than my nine-challenge average of 5.22...
This is a road sign in my back yard. It's lived there for as long as I've been alive, planted by my father after salvaging it from City Hall when he worked there. I guess they were replacing all the road signs, and this was one of the outgoing. Who knew that it'd ever actually serve some purpose...
I didn't have a chance to take this picture in the morning, when the light is much softer. If this were advanced editing, I might have toned down the bright white a bit.
Compositionally, it doesn't particularly stand out; it's not so bad nor so good, mostly just mediocre. The shacky thing in the upper left provides a bit of distracting brown- I would have cloned that out if allowed. If I get any points on this one it'll probably be for the unusual angle (I don't think that this is one that most people can get on a road sign) and for the weird setting (most road signs are actually on, well, roads.)
I think what would have been idea is getting a mostly overhead shot so that it's clear that the road sign is not actually in a road, but so that it's also somewhat readable. We'll see how it goes, i suppose! |

I voted this a 6. I loved the rich color and. Although average in composition, I did like the high veiw of it, and sometimes I am biased because you own a DSC-V1 |

I love the unasual perspective. Looking down at instead of looking up at street names. The green grass gives it a nice quiet feel to it. |

A unique perspective. First shot from above the street sign I have seen. The intensity of the green is great too.. Well done. |

I like the angle of this shot a lot. I think it might look better if some of the top was cropped out. |

Nice angle, though I don't really like the fact that this on grass, in your garden perhaps. |

I really like this shot. It is different from all the others I've seen. I like the fact that we can look down on the sign for once. Its a neat way of looking at it. I love the coloring how the green pops out at you because it is so bright. I also really like the detail and lines seen right below the sign. The objects surrounding the pole of the sign are very crisp and sharp looking. Nice shot. |
