Great negative space. I would only say that it is slightly hard to identify them as puppets. If the puppets were clearer, it would also be easier to see that the bottom right is part of the set, as it's slightly hard to see what it is.
Having said that, I'm quite keen on photos where the viewer has to make an effort to look carefully to interpret what is going on. Perhaps not as striking as blatantly obvious photos, but usually more interesting. |

I love the use of negative spaces, and I find the idea and subject very interesting and attractive.
I am not too crazy about the angle, because the puppets are not clearly seen, although the focus is set very well. Also, I see no shadows of the puppets or their holders.
I would also love to see the color version (if there is one).
The dark area at the right side is a bit distracting IMO.
Well, I'm no expert. Over all, I really like this one!

Thanks for your time to comment on my shadow pic.
It was hard to capture the shadows as this was the backstage and the puppets have to be pressed upon the screen to give the audiance a good view. Little more action would have been nice.
Thank you one more time! |

Greetings from the Critique Club!!!
I saw the request in the forums and noticed no one was nice enough to leave you a critique. So I figured I give you a freebee.
Initial Impact: Ohh nice this is different.
Focus: Crystal clear focus evrything seems to be nice and crisp.
Color: I feel that using black and white works well with this paticular shot. I can't say without seeing the color version but I feel that the color version would have had too many colors. Making it too busey to work wit this paticular composition.
Style and technique: I enjoy the use of negative space. I myself very seldom manage to get it to work to my liking. In this case however I think you nailed it.
Overall:
This is not a bad shot I like the use of negative space. However I feelt dissapointed. With a title of shadows copy. I expected to see a shadow. While interesting and well shot. It does not seem to fullfill it's promise. I see the puppets and hands but it does not deliver the action... Well I hope this helps at least a little. I look farward to seeing some more of these cool shots in the future.
