Critique Club
Composition: I like the position of the camera - a classic surveillance type position. The people are well positioned within the frame, however the TV on the left is a little attention grabbing because it is quite bright.
Technical Quality: I think this is one aspect which you were probably voted harshly for. With the low light, large amount of noise and black & white a lot of people probably thought the quality was terrible. On the other hand I think this was a wise choice for your photo. I well lit, color photograph would not have looked anything like we expect for a surveillance camera. Plus, you wisely had enough light to make it easy to look at the photo, whilst still creating a mood - well done.
Meeting the Challenge: It definitely meets the challenge - the shot is from a vantage point above the subject.
Creativity: I think it was an original idea to mimic a real life "from above" scenario. It's also more adventurous in terms of content and composition than many entries in this challenge. Oh, and that facial expression on the person with the sword is very funny.
Border: I like the simple black border. It frames the image nicely whilst being subtle and not overpowering.
Overall: It was a creative idea and you made the right choice in simulating a low quality image. At the same time however I think you will suffer on a photo challenge website where a lot of the scoring seems to be based on technical quality. Also, the photo possibly depends on the title a little too much to make it's point.
Cheers. |

Fun (in a dark way) shot! A little too realistic of a set up (messy, messy!). Focus is O.K., but whole shot is a bit grainy. Lighting - eh, needs work. Contrast - also needs work. 6 Swash |

Must have smoked a bowl before taking this one. Hope you didn't lop off that guy's head by accident. :D |

Okay.. this is just a great picture. Meets the challenge. Looks like surveillance footage. Fits the title perfectly. Memorable. 9 from me. Good job. |

Don't know what to say about this subject matter. Don't even know if it meets the Challenge. |

Funny photo! It is a little too grainy though, did you use a high ISO setting? |

Nice idea, pretty well, er, 'executed'. Not sure about the eyes on the camera - though it helps the 'joke' element of course. And the sword is suitably ridiculous - this is growing on me with every minute. I hope everyone else pays enough attention to get all the details. |
