I always wondered if you could give a black outline to a subject. An opposite to rimlighting if you will. So when I saw it in a book I decided to try it. It ended up being a bigger challenge than I anticipated. I don't fully understand yet how to control the effect. The effect isn't quite that good in this shot and it isn't as nice as it should be but I spent enough time on the exercise I felt obligated to submit it.

The contrast on the edges is a bit too strong

Black outline on the flower is rather distracting. Vignetting on the right is a bit heavy and uneven. Beautiful flower, though.

I see a strong black on on some of the petals of the flower... and I would have cropped out the black shadow to the right. 6

It looks like this was photographed with a black background and then had a pink backround Photoshoped in. What ever happened it looks kind of odd to my eye.

Looks very strange, like the flower was pasted on the background. The dark corners on the right are also distracting.

Nice flower, but the 'filter' effect is a bit odd.
