When I see a shot like this down at 61st (I thought it was top 10 for sure) makes me think I was very lucky to scrape 78th!
Nice to see you submitting again; it's been a while. |

I can't believe you didn't beat me with this shot... It's really cool IMHO.
The shallow DOF is just right, and such a cheeky pose/composition. Well done.. |

Glad to see you back after so long. I thought I lost one of my favorite photographers!
Excellent self-portrait, very playful. The toning is perfect. Nicely done! |

Probably one of the best self-portraits I've seen so far. Nice composition, tones are perfect, and I love how the limited depth of field puts all but the bubble and left side of your face out of focus. It's a very cute concept, as well. Your eyes and expression convey the message very nicely, making the title believable.
Wonderful work. |

This is great. I love the idea & title, and I love the wild crop at the top. It would be easy to underestimate this image because of the light-hearted approach, but it is also a really good photograph. You must know your model pretty well. 7.
Back for second opinion ... what was I thinking? This is better than 7. It's the most joie-de-vivre portrait in the challenge. Bump right up to 9. |

I like the softeness. The tight crop above the eyes creates an intimate feeling. |

Nicely focused on the gum and the left eye, think I would have prefered it not to be quite so tightly cropped at the top but stilll a great shot. 9 |

Funny and flattering portrait IMO.
I love the tones and the lights. I just wish your eyes had been a bit more in focus.

Returning for comment: I like the pose, crop, and tones very much. Most everything works well here, except perhaps I think a little more DOF to catch both eyes sharp would have been nice. A very effective portrait, IMHO. |

i don't know anything about portraiture, so i'm using your image to try to figure out what i think i would or wouldn't do in this situation, as well as what i notice and get out of your image.
how much fun you must have had doing this! as a moment, very well caught. the soft focus, though, is leaving me grasping for details. visually, i'm having a hard time reconciling the far right--i can't get a feel for just what your hair is doing. i think the lighting is also washing out the range of tonalities and character that might be found in your face. but, all the same, i like the essence of whimsy that you've captured. good luck! |

Composition: 8, I like that some of your head is cropped out. I think neatly cropping to just include all of your head would only detract from the shot
Technical: 8, Love the DOF that softly blurs all but your face
Appeal: 8, Fun feeling shot
Challenge: 9, Transmits message of title quite well
Overall Calculated Average Score: 8 |

I love this! Great attitude in this shot. Love the look and the bubble gum. Nice soft treatment but I love the look in the eyes most. Oh, and yay for freckles!!!! :-) |

This image is fun to watch and while a tad more sharpness is desired, the overall effect remains very strong because of the mischievious askance stare in conjunction with the bubble. Bumping up. |
