 This is a photograph of the rustic bridge at Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire, England. The site remained an Abbey until 1580 when King Henry VIII proclaimed the deformation of the monastaries and destroyed most Catholic buildings within the country. After the site was pillaged it fell into private hands and most of the area became Studleigh Royal where the addition of a walled garden, follies, and formal ponds became the attraction. Later in the 20th century the entire site was taken over by The National Trust and it continues to be restored under a joint partnership with English Heritage. It is the best remaining example of a Cistercian Abbey in the world and the entire ruins are a World Heritage Site.

Might have been nice to see more of the bridge (vertically), and I would have liked to see this picture in color, but I like the motion of the water and the exposure level is perfect.
