Challenge: Bridges II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S5100
Location: Just north of I-80, off Exit 56 in Illinois
Date: Feb 14, 2005
Aperture: 2.14
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/400
Galleries: Black and White, Rural
Date Uploaded: Feb 15, 2005

This was taken from standing at one end of a covered bridge and shooting towards the other. I used a flash.
In Photoshop, I simply swiched it over to black and white, cropped a bit off of a couple of the edges and adjusted the brightness and contrast by a few of points.
I hadn't intended to even keep this picture on my camera (I hated that the other end was so bright; I wanted to see the curvy little dirt road on the other side), but when I opened it up big on my computer to take a good look at it, I saw this effect of light 'radiating' from the other end, kind of fitting the look of what NDE survivors describe. I loved it.

Came back to comment and bumped from 4 to 5 on second pass.
Not concerned at the blown light at the end of the tunnel, more the lack of anything interesting in the tunnel/bridge itself. Perhaps too much empty floor?

Out of focus and too much digital noise

Poor lighting, poor detail. You wasted what might have been a fascinating composition.

I think that the wire mesh on the left is a little intrusive. Perhaps it could have been cropped out.

Good idea, but I think you need better DOF. Nothing seems very well focused.

Nice idea. I wish the interior of the bridge showed a little more detail (perhaps contrast would help?) It's all a little too fuzzy for me.

Reminds me of jmsetzler's photo from the previous bridges challenge, minus the sihouetted person at the end of the tunnel.

The B/W does this shot good.

I'm thinking this is the farthest from the light that you could get before capturing the enterance of the bridge, but it would look better if it was a longer tunnel.
