From Scratch

Your photograph is just smack full of equipment for making this cake and keeps one busy looking around the kitchen area which is okay, because that̢۪s what I like to do when I watch my wife or daughter baking.
I really like your sepia tone; it gives off a better photo compared to a black and white alone.
Exposure and focus are good as is the lighting, though it is a bit bright in the back over top of the bowl area.
I like the way you have the spoons and the eggs cut off at the bottom, it brings my eyes up over the recipe book, around the area and back down to the bowls and the spoons again.
I think you did a good job in the Kitchen Challenge, finishing in 17th place out of 79. Congratulations!
Look forward to seeing more of your work in the weeks to come.
Regards,
Ed

I like the tone here a lot. But the wonky view leaves me a bit disoriented! Still, this is a very nicely done photo. |

Looks like it came right out of a cook book -- this looks like something that has a lot of potential as a print! Great toning, and the angle adds a lot of interest to the shot. |

I love the angle in which you chose to take this photo. An excellent idea for the challenge. The colour gives it an old feeling. Lovely photo and GL. |

Everything here looks just fine, your lighting is great, coloring looks fine, I like the whites of your eggs, and your border is great, but your angle of the photo just doesn't appeal to me. Just my taste though, nothing wrong with your photo, that's just me. |

I like the radical angle and the color approach. The background is a little busy but not too bad. Nice job |

This is a wonderfully photographed scene. Please don't hate me but I don't like the angle. With this much going on, one has to actually cock ones head to look at it. Rocky Road Brownies sounds delish! |

Very nice compostion. Having the ingredients and the measuring spoons only partially on the outskirts of the frame while the bowl is completely shown is an excellent way to draw the eye around the various pieces of the photo while keeping you focused on the overall image itself. Wonderful, and it's making me want to make some cookies!

This is an interesting angle, and it really fits well here. The sepia toning also does a lot to this image. |

Nice tonal control and range. Not crazy about the tilted image. |

Great angle! Wish the recipe was in focus so that I could make some!! This is really very clever and fun to look at, and the sepia tone works great here! |
