...and God divided the light from the darkness. Could there be any more distinct separation then this?

Post processing basically is contrast, duo-tone, neatImage, USM, some blur and some minor spot editing of unwanted dots on the paper.

Well, I gave you a 6. I think if you had pulled out a bit more so all of the statement could be read, this would have been better understood. In particular, the word "darkness" is almost impossible to read. You could also have tried using the phrase as the title of the photo, but not everyone reads those. I have to say, overall you have a nice range of votes and a good score. I think some of the lower votes can be attributed to those who just plain old vote low and those who didn't see the meaning of your photo. Good luck!

I gave it an eight, and it is a nice image. I also agree with bear_music, on his analysis. Compared to other photos in the challenge I don't think it would have ribboned, but it could have placed higher, I agree.

Hey Adi, I gave this image a 6. I definitey got the concept behind it and thought it was pretty good, though I must admit that I tend to be turned off by religious-themed imagery. I think that you might have communicated your idea a bit better by slightly altering your choice of highlight: it might have been better to put the spotlight on "divided the light" or something like that than just "light." Also, another good test I've come up with for evaluating images on DPC (or anywhere, really) is: would I put this up on my wall? This image definitely fits the challenge, but despite the fact that you pulled it off well and the technical skill is good, it doesn't have a lot of out-of-challenge appeal.

Oh yes, and thank you for your comments on my Castle Rock pictures. I really appreciate the feedback :)

hey, adi! great take on the challenge. i can see how this image may not of worked for a lot of people, but all the same, it is solid entry. you cleaned up with the commenters, which to me validates your decision to submit it. unfortunately, i've come to accept that with this crowd, anything above a 5 is good news...so, don't let this one hold you back! keep on going!

Good blend of props, technique and subject reinforcing each other. Simple but effective.

I like this shot. Even the border works here. The only thing I would change is maybe make the edges a little brighter. 9

I typically don't favor shots of text, but you have contextualized this well by dividing YOUR darkness from your light. Good composition, good lighting, good idea. 10

An interesting photo. I give it points for technical. I am not familiar with the writting and perhaps that is why I can't associate it with the challenge. Nice shot I just missed you intention so I'll give you a 8 -2 and leave you with a 6.

very nice effect...I think I would have liked it a little more on the word divided but you get the idea in it. Very pleasant to look and and moves your eyes around the image.

THe font here is excellent for this photo as is the way the the word light lines up. THe sharpness of the center line in comparison to the other is wonderful.

How did you get the middle words so sharp and the rest soft, if you don't mind me asking?

Score = 7;)
