I guess I'm asking for trouble voting-wise here. Not only is that background not 'white' in the sense that I expect the closed-minded too understand it (although of course it is, it just isn't over-exposed), it's also a flower shot. It was however, the first image that sprang to mind on reading the challenge, and actually I quite like the finished thing.
The strange depth-of-field type blurring of the petals is actually a NeatImage effect - not deliberate, but as it happend it appealled to me. It's shot is aperture-priority mode, with the exposure compensation set to +0.6, and then histogram adjustment is used to bring it all up into the 200's. Levels are then used to push the midtones even further towards 'bright'. I think it's the kind of image that is suggested by the challenge ... but that could only be my brain being it's indeterminate self. I expect 5-something. |

| I like the softness of the photo. Like how it's sharp in flower's center, and fades out. Also, like flower's size and position in frame. One thing that would have made it a little better for me would have been a brighter highlighting on the flower. Nice job as is, though. |

| My appologies, this is the sixth or seventh mum I've encountered in this competition and I want to scream. There is idiom, and there is cliche. The second photo was more that enough. Actually, of photos of mums, this is right up there. |
