This site tends to promote the kinds of photography that looks good in magazine spreads and billboards: crisp, well lit, in focus, dramatic, moody, or sentimental. Sometimes photos whose beauty is just below the surface don't fare as well as they might in other forums.
Truthfully, I don't even remember seeing this photo in the 'passing time' challenge. I see that I gave it middling marks probably because I saw it near the end of voting and was too tired to dig very far. I notice that it got a ten and a dozen 7's 8's and 9's. The way I look at it, that means it connected with more than a dozen people. If we look at the challenges as ways of connecting with people of like minds, then your photo did this. It was successful more than a dozen times. (I need to think like this because I find myself scoring badly with photos I like and it hurts.)
One of the reasons I want to encourage you is that as much as I like shiny happy photos, I think this site would be improved by having more reflective photos, photos with more depth, photos that seem a little dark and brooding, the kind of photo I see here.
Good Luck. |

Very abstract image. I like the flow of the black into the white and the imagery it evokes for me. The trees look kind of scary, like they would be part of a children's fairytale or a section of a filmed nightmare.
I find the relation to the challenge tenuous, the title doing most of the work, as the image doesn't really say park nor passing time to me - the emotion I see in the photo is much different, but we each have our own perspectives. The composition is interesting, and the fact that its an out of the norm capture from what I normally see here helps boost that interest as well.
I do find it hard to stay invested in the image after taking my first look at it though, it doesn't speak to me for a prolonged period. But that said, I like the originality. I gave it a 5 |

This doesn't bring to mind a stroll. It is more reminiscent of a run. |

I don't get passing time in this picture. Plus, the blurred image doesn't really grab me. In the future, try to avoid patching the photo into the competition, by naming it as something to pull the viewer in a direction. The picture should say passing time without a title. |

Interesting concept. I'd like to have seen this having been in sharper focus though. |

Sorry but this looks like you entered the wrong image. Way too fuzzy |
