I had a new bottle stacked under the almost empty one and was inspired a few hours before the deadline.

Used our fridge (plus some white paper on one side) as the background. Stacked the bottles and dumbell with a bit of hidden tape (they would balance on their own, but they fell once and I started to fear for the life of our coffee table that was serving as the base). Spread the vitamins over white paper. Got some lighting tips from my boyfriend (though there's only so much you can do with a 60W desk lamp).

Editing: Initially selected just the whites and the vitamins - levels. Then selected just the whites - levels to achieve pure white. Selected just the bottles and dumbell - levels. Finally, cloned out a few seams and tape pieces in the background and base paper.

Additional Note - It was viewing this challenge entry on another monitor that led to the revelation that my monitor was not in fact calibrated properly, as I thought was. It had major issues in the white end of the spectrum. So although I apparently don't know how to calibrate my monitor, I do know how to set white balance and adjust levels. When submitted the background and base were pure white on my screen...too bad they weren't on anyone elses...

This is very original and clever. You lost the light on your subject and there is a bit of glare in the top left corner. Tighten up the technical and you'd have a great billboard here. Good luck!

My evaluation method of this challenge is as follows:
1. Did you catch my eye while I was driving by? I think so.
2. If I didn't catch the text while I was driving, did you intrigue me enough to look for this billboard again? I think so.
3. Did you sell your stuff to me? hmm... basically yes.
4. Extra thoughts: The concept is funny and catching. I like the way you set the bottles up, when at the bottom I recognize the first part of the name and on the top I see the second part. but this photo needs some more post processing.
You need to set your white balance when taking such pictures and try to avoid the glare on the left. Also I think you could lower the DOF some more. I don't really need all vitamins in focus. (6)

ok, i am voting this challenge in 2 passes. in this pass, you will get a partial comment and a score. then i will come back to comment again. if you have any problem whatsoever with this comment, pm me and let me know. otherwise, take it with a grain of salt...i'm not trying to be a know-it-all, i'm just explaining where i'm coming from in voting this challenge. and, if this comment is NOT helpful (of if you think i'm full of $#!+), don't mark it helpful.

billboards are a science unto themselves. a lot of research has gone into determining just how much information a person can digest and retain in specific time spans. they use this information to develop formulas for determining the number of words and letters to use on billboards, as well as their sizes. they also determine the size and number of visual elements to include.

the graphics/photograph on a billboard are designed to get the point across in a moment. on the road, a driver will have less time with a billboard than a voter will give your image. this is a key element in the challenge: composing a shot that will get its point across quickly and succintly. along those lines, a strong composition will probably have few details and make strong use of negative space.

excellent concept. i feel that both bottles should be properly oriented towards the viewer and there should be no shadow on the product
