 Basic editing rules presented some difficulties in creating this shot. Here are the steps I took:
1. Went to the beach to snap a photo of a flying seagull and pick up some feathers.
2. Returned home, desaturated and level-adjusted the seagull photo to make sky white, projected it from a computer on my LCD-projection TV [it does not flicker, but has a very non-uniform brightness across which presented a lot of headache later to post-process within basic editing rules].
3. Glued one feather to a piece of glass, and placed it a couple of feet in front of the TV screen, and took a photo.

In the post-processing desaturated, lightened up, cropped, adjusted levels, USM, and saved for web.

Although I don't like the grayish color of the feather, it still stands among the best I've seen in this challenge. Of course, if not for the feather then it's not nearly as good.

How you managed this I do not know, but graphically simple and a photo that certainly has me thinking. Great capture.

great capture and fits the challenge well. An emotional and seemingly tough moment to photograph.. I love the crisp details on the feather my only wish would be to have the bird a bit more in focus as well. Wonderfull shot 8

This had to be difficult to set up and I admire the photo, however there is no "light color as referenced in the challenge.

You can almost hear the Forest Gump theme...da da da DA da da da DAAA--AA, Da da da da DAAAAAA.... Great clarity in the feather; you can see the wisps clearly.

seems to be an 'impossible' capture. is it a photo of a feather laying on a photo of a bird?
