This was taken at the beach in Monterey Bay, California. I wasn't planning on getting this shot but it just sort of jumped out at me when I was there. The two people on the point are watching the sunset. This image looks even better in color!

I love your composition here, good eye. As far as mimicing AA style, you missed the mark slightly. Ansels work is about tonal range within the black and white image, this feels a little flat. I think if the sand had more contrast to emphisize the texture it would have "poped" more. Also you may want to try cropping a little off the bottom so that the picture is not so split down the middle. The rule of thumb is to place subjects or horizons on thirds. By placing your horizon on the bottom third I think your shot would be a litte more dramatic. Overall, I think you did a wonderful job. Try playing around with cropping and levels and compare to your original. You may find that you come up with something you like more, or you will find out that your first image is what you really like. Either way the important thing is that you love your photo! Good Job, keep at it.

Doesn't feel quite contrasty enough to me but still a very lovely picture.

This would be fantastic if only it were a bit sharper.

Composition: 10, Excellent ridge curving back into photo and leading to the two people!
Technical: 6, I'd like to see the tone range of this shot pushed harder. The histogram of this photo shows the tone range isn't very gradual. I think pumping up the blacks and whites and spreading the greys just a little would add some sweet drama to the shot
Appeal: 7, lovely location

Awsome photo. I love the sky, almout in a negative, and the two persons at the edge of the sand... A mix between a romantic scenary and the beggining of a storm.

Excellent seascape, with special emphasis upon the lighting on the water as it emerges into the ocean. Great lines. Good clarity. Perhaps lightening up the expanse of sand to bring greater tonal variety in that interesting texture would help. Still, a great photo.
