Photo of Salisbury Craigs taken from St. Leonards. This is a basalt rock formation, the remains of an extinct volcano, including the famous peak, Arthur's Seat (see my portfolio for a recent picture - Edinburgh Skyline II). All of this is, bizarrely, right in the heart of Scotland's capital, Edinburgh, even though it could pass for Yosemite if you squinted!. I had the length of time it takes two 4 year-old girls to finish a packet of crisps to take this because my daughter and her friend were sitting in the car waiting for me to take them to a dinosaur exhibition. The wind was strong and kindly blew some pretty clouds into view as well as blowing others away from the sun to highlight the rockface fleetingly.
Curves, crop, USM.
Monochrome channel mixer (100% red, -100% blue, upped green until just below blowing highlights)
Burnt left hand clouds, bottom right of image and added some definition to clouds. Dodged highlights of clouds. |

Look's like there could be some nice climbing there too... no squinting required :) |

Good shot. Would have liked to have the foreground burned some more to draw theye into the foreground abit more. Nice dark sky. |

Great sky, but I feel that the trees in the foreground are a little lost. |

Very nice mountain shot! It seems a little dark in places on my monitor. |

Nice shot but I'd prefer it without the trees. It would be more pure... |

I really like this one. Good choice in waiting for the light to hit the rock face and leaving the hillside dark. Nice framing trees in the foreground. |
