Location: An old railroad bridge docked in Hudson in NYC

 Since I had to put my Minolta in the shop because of a bent pin, I pulled out my old 2mp Cannon PowerShot A40. I really wanted to enter this challenge, so I figured I could at least get a shot for the web even though I would never be able to use for a print. Since I live in NYC, and not able to take a trip out west for this challenge--I searched through all of Ansel Adams photos and found his famous rose picture--hence my Just A Rose. I know there will be amazing pictures in the challenge, just hoping my little rose will place at least in the top 50%.

It seems that you might have a better shot if you had panned out a little to reveal more of the "table" or cropped closer to the rose/petal. As is, the subject is less than 25% of the view and seems to cry for more attention. Good luck

One of the most attractive flower pics I've seen in quite some time. Nicely posed and the surroundings are very complimentary to the flower. Nice tones.

A beautiful capture (if a tiny bit soft) that is well composed and lit. It's not a particularly Adamsy scene, though. 8

Your tonal range here is rich and plapable, virtually perfect for the image. It's a little too soft for an AA emulation, he was the antithesis of soft focuse, pictorialist-type images. Nevertheless, a strong entry.
