A self portrait taken with Nikkor 50mm 1.8. Natural light from a window, a white reflector and off camera flash fired remotely at 1/32 power to provide shadow fill and catchlights in the eyes. Smoothed skin except for the laugh lines using gaussian blur layer and history brush. Sharpened eyes. Whitened eyes and teeth a little. Reduced color saturation somewhat, a little dodge and burn. Flip vertical, resize, light sharpen, save for web.

My recent entries have been rushed affairs because my wife has been hospitalised and I have had such little time. Despite my best intentions I should not have enetered them and so the scores have been very low. I am hoping that I may get a respectable score with this (5.5 or higher) as I feel it a) meets the challenge and b) is a technically competent shot even if it is not oozing originality. I really want to stop the downhill trend!!

Laughs lines are very much needed in all faces. Bumping up.

Great portrait... the color seems slightly washed out.

There the best lines aren't they! Skin tone seems a bit blue to me.

The shot seems too bright and is cropped a little too tight for my taste, you have met the challenge well and this has a good title. Your model has a natural smle and his eyes are crisp, good luck in the challenge.

Nice lighting

The color appears to be a bit to undersaturated for my tastes. I think the lighting is more of a problem. Almost the only parts of the skin that are not flatly lit are the wrinkles ahem lines.

great idea, but i would have got in closer to the eye and avoided the extra stuff. you want to bring our attention to the eye, so crop to there and the eye or zoom in closer. i think it could have done very well if that was the case.

Average picture - lots used skin lines - no unique aspects
