The space shuttle Atlantis as it sat on the launch pad the day prior to launch (STS-101) in May of 2000.

There's something about the design of that thing (especially the tower) that looks like it is an accretion of various objects over a period of years. I think there must have been more than one pick-up going down to Stan's junkyard on the corner picking up bits and pieces for that project. And that rust colour does not do much for the overall first impression either. I guess they will come up with something a bit more modernistic looking in the future, shiny blue and streamlined.

Just an incredible sight...for those of us so far away from imagining it to be real and tangible, you've done a perfect job of capturing it's grandeur.

Haha, I sound like I'm speaking of the Loch Ness *Monster*.
