 A shame this has come out so soft - it looks like I focused in front of the swans (500mm manual focus lens). It was one of those one chance shots though because in the next frame the moment had gone. Can I claim deliberate soft-focus?

To me this says so much about "best friends" on many different levels.

Editing-wise, there's a certain atmosphere retained by not dropping the background to solid black or punching the contrast, though I would have liked to have been able to clean up & soften the water while sharpening the birds.

Whata nice shot of them. Very good!!! I like the lighting and the variation in the one solid white and the other colored. Probably a pair for life. Great choice for the contest criteria.

Simply because they have a relationship in a sense, does not make them friends. As a matter of fact, friendship is a personal, namely humanistic expression. Actually friendship, is philologically rooted in love. But do not worry too much, I still voted on the photo itself.

The angle there seems a bit awkward, and the background seems even more unnatural. If you ask me, this could be a perfect candidate for b&w treatment. Nice enough photo though - i especially like the water reflection.

With some cleanup and color adjustments this could make it pretty far. As it stands though it seems to lack a clean focal point with the black noisy water on the bottom since it seems black is the background you were shooting for, and the white balance might be able to be adjusted for adjustment on the feathers?

Very nice image, i love how the water and the backgrond is almost black and then you see some reflection and ripples in the water under the swans who are just gorgeous. I love this image its beautiful.
