Not my best photo ever, and certianly not technically fabulous, but I like it anyway, and that's all that really matters.
This is Jamison, again (stepping back in as a model after his bad rap with the infamous Pain Challenge). I really didn't want to use him in another challenge so soon, but he was the only of his several siblings to cooperate for the photo shoot, so here he is (not by popular demand, but back nonetheless). I actually wanted to throw in his little avian brother, Spargel the parrot, to preen Jamison's fur as he looked bored (they get along great) because I thought that would have really added an interesting element to the picture, but Spargel was used in far to recent of a challenge (Surrealism) so I didn't include him.
For lighting, I used light from a nearby window, some house lamps, and a flash. I used a blanket pinned to the fireplave mantle as the backdrop, and used a scratching post behind it to create a shelf for the clock. I arranged some toys around the set and coaxed Jamison over. (After his brothers repeatedly caused havoc to it all and I fired them). Jamison behaved well because he was kinda sleepy. The hardest part was getting him to open his eyes so that he looked bored and not contently napping. After several dozen tries, I wound up with this.
Since it's my spring break, I didn't have access to the school's PhotoShop, so I was stuck with editing with the FinePix Viewer program (VERY basic) which came with my camera. I converted it to b/w, cropped it some, and adjusted the brightness/contrast a little.
In case you were wondering what happened to his tail (common question when I take him out and about town with me), he's a Rumpy Manx--born without a trace of one. He actually has a bit of a dent where it would otherwise be.
What's the 'Second Life' part of the title about? He was a cat of the streets, picked up by a local Humane Society, as were all my cats, minus his 'sister,' whom I inherited. They sure live it up now as spoiled rotten, but bring me a lot of joy.

Interesting idea, keep catching myself going back and forth from the cat to the clock, hard to lock on to the image..............5

I think this is Catbird's image - either way. I think there is too much dead space in this image...why couldn't the clock be closer to the cat? Also, there are image quality issues. It's hard to tell what the objects around the cat are supposed to be (I know that what the objects are doesn't really matter, but that can be distracting, all the same - it looks like a bunny, a tree and either some poop or a mouse, one). Of course this image was staged - it would have to be, and that's no big deal. The danger of staging is that when it's just slightly off, it shows quite explicitly.
