I gave you a 7 for this shot, the eyes are the heart of this shot,You have detail in the catso exposure is ok, I would agee with others that the white background has given him a cut out feel and this perhaps is what the voters thought.

Hello, I gave you a six and made a comment below also. I think lighting was your only problem |

Needs some kind of different lighting to show the cat's facial features a little better. Hard to make out. Hope that's helpful. |

I gave this a 5. It looks very strange on my monitor. There are contrast differences throughout the shot going from light to dark and from sharp to muddy. There's also some shadowing around the paw that doesn't look natural.
Please comment on my entry if you have a chance. |

I didn't get to this one before the challenge ended. I gave you a 7 on this but I think I can explain why you got mostly 5's.
On my monitor, the black and white are very distinct and that's a good thing sometime but in this case, it might have hurt you. The line between the two around the top is so distinct it almost has a cut and paste look to it. Black animals are so difficult to shoot, I know, 2 black cats in my house as well. While the eyes and nose are in great focus something happened to the paw and lower face on the right. It's all blurred out and looks like someone took an eraser and smudged it out to the right. The lighting on his nose and eyes are well done but the rest seems rather dull and lacks that wow factor. It's a really lovely shot and you should be proud to display it, just doesn't have that stand out from the crowd feel. Hope he got a lot of treats for posing for you ;) |

Nice portrait. I like the fact that this is a true portrait with a clean background. Well done. |

However you made the background disappear, it made the outline of the cat look a little unnatural, IMO. |

focus seems a little soft, but great shot. Love the slightly irritated look :) |
