|I expected this challenge to be taken down at any second. When the submissions started rising, I figured, "What the heck. Maybe I can redeem my In the Beginning disaster."
The hardest part about this was separating the multicolored aquarium gravel by hand, but I'm just crazy enough to do it. Everything is set in a glass dish with water in it. I positioned three Christmas "candle" lights to make obvious light sources, and set a custom white balance.
Processing was very minimal: Crop, USM, Levels, adjust the yellow channel a bit.
Post-challenge: As you can see, I went conservative with this challenge. My goals were simply to provide a logical connection between the duck and the grapes, then nail the technical aspect. Mission accomplished, but a yawner photo. My competitors really demonstrated some outstanding creativity. Bravo!
