I appreciate the degree of difficulty in attaining this shot.
The composition is pleasing. I thought that the right branch was just a bit fuzzy, even though it's apparent that it's splitting again.
I voted the image a 5 because it just didn't have the "wow". I apologize for the spelling criticism. |

I like the abstract composition of this shot. The "Y" is obvious and it meets the criteria. Good creativity. The cropping is good: I like the compositional movement from the bottom left corner and the use of negative space.
The nature of the shot is relatively abstract - any detail will be limited. It also means that any distraction in the shot will be a big distraction, with so little else to look at. The right hand fork is either a slight double exposure or is hair resplitting - it detracts from the purity of the image, as does the blip halfway down the same fork. The left hand fork appears fractionally out of the shallow DoF, leaving a slight blur. There is a very slight shadow on the bottom LHS. None of these points would matter, but for the focus that is forced into the detail by the degree of abstraction utilised.
Overall, I like this image, but in the competition I skipped over it too quickly when voting. I gave you a 4, but on reflection, the skill in getting the photo and the creativity and composition should have led me to vote higher - 5 or 6 (and I tend to give very few high marks, I have noticed).
The image was not attention grabbing enough, IMO, to score highly. It was sufficiently similar in shape to a number of "stick" photos so that it did not stand out. It is an attractive image. Your score does not reflect the quality of the image, merely the voting patterns in these particular circumstances! |

yes i made a type mistake. isn't it still obvious whats goin on here? and for those who couldn't believe, yes it is a true hair macro, otherwise it would be a nonsense. thanks for all the votes. |

Is this really your hair? Well I think it is creative but somehow the frame seems rather empty. |

I'm guessing this is some kind of branch, but without any context it simply looks like the letter Y. |

Fits the challege and ist a technicaly good shot. I don't find it to very interesting or exciting. It lacks the power to pull ahead of the pack IMO. Leaving it feeling like a pretty average photo here on DPC.. not that being average here is all that bad. |

Has Jacko gone crazy with his macro lenses - how many extenders did that take ?!! If that is actually a split end I'm really impressed - if it's just a large piece of straw or something I'm not so impressed. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and an 8 |
