The boys were playing un supervised on the local dirt track, they are hams, so they were glad to have me shooting photos. No cropping, just taking sequences and happened to capture this image. Dodging to lighten the bike, adjust hue & sat on most the colors and sharpened, and NI to help get rid of the grain...
Upped the ISO to 400, trading grain for shutter speed and DOF. Anyhow, I am pretty glad how this turned out:) The one big negative is all the artifacting. I was shooting in sequence mode and moved my camera down to 2mp & 3mp to shot faster, but the compression rates are bad and I ended up with alot of artifacting. Oh well, life goes on...
AFTER THE CHALLENGE...
I took about 150 photos at the track that day, most in sequence mode. I had plenty of photos with the head included. The charm of this photo was that it gives the illusion that the motorcycle jumped and just kept on going up. I entered it because of that. Sorry to all the people that that thought I should have included the head:) |

I really like this shot.
Only a 9 from me as i do believe that not having a head in the shot distracts from the picture.
Good luck anyway

Headless rider at an extreme height. Very exciting. and that sky is such a wonderful background. |

beautiful shot. 7. I would have rated this higher if his head was in the shot. |

Good literalism but may have had more impact had the whole biker been in clear view or cropped at a strange angle. |

This is a great shot - the bike against the lovely sky is very nice. It would have been very nice to see the rest of the bike and rider. |

There are some strange red dots all over the cycle that makes this very impressive image (and composition) look a bit over-processed. 7 |
