Southern New England isn't known for its ghost towns, but the remains of the past can be found deep in the woods in places. This image was photographed in one of those long lost and forgotten places that dates back to the beginning of the American Industrial Revolution.

This cellar hole is one of several abandoned house that once housed families in a small village that was build around a textile mill well over 200 years ago. To this day in the spring time flowers that were planted around the door steps of these "workers" homes still blossom to remind us of the days past.

This image was taken on a cloudy day when the Sun would not co-operate with the photographer. Seeing that I haven't a photo processing program yet, contrast and minor lighting adjustments along with cropping was done with Googles Picasa2 freeware.

The clarity is fantastic and it makes you wonder what is hidden in all the nooks and cranies. Mary~

I don't see what or where the abandoned building is supposed to be. It looks more like a garden. Could this be ruins??? if so the it would have fit the challenge then in my opinion. The photo is however nice and is pleasing to the eye. It has good color and clarity and offers a nice choice in DoF altho its hard to see. Good luck in this challenge.

A tad more saturation and contrast could make this pop, nice idea and well taken.

Nice color use and composition. I just don't see an abandoned building in the photograph. Will take your word on the cellar hole as a building.

Interesting shot. What exactly is a "Cellar Hole"? Is there a sealed up opening under the tree? I like the colors here. I wouldn't mind having this shot on my wall, but finding the building is a bit too much of a challenge for me.

There is a sense of formlessness and clutter around this shot. The muted colours, though attractive, add to this. Perhaps if you'd isolated an element it migh be a stronger image.

The tight shot makes this look more like a collapsing dry stone wall in a gorge, rather than an abandoned building. I find the excess of twigs and small branches distracting.
