Thanks to all for your helpful and kind comments. This was my first challenge, so to come 6th was very pleasing indeed - I'm sure I won't repeat that in a hurry :-)
This shot was pretty straightforward - a glass of G&T set up in my darkened kitchen with a single halogen light to the left/behind the glass and the camera on a tripod. The lemon is the essential ingredient, as it generates bubbles as well as adding colour.
The print is a crop of this to fit the aspect ratio - a vertical piece off each of the sides went which removed some of the annoying reflections you get from using a round glass - got to get some square ones :-) |

Hi Pinback...
Congrats on a great 6th place finish... I would have loved to see this photo get a ribbon this week. This photo generates a good feeling... It definitely makes me smell and taste lemon on first glance. The tiny bubbles in the glass along with the nice yellow color of the lemons really create an image that is as refreshing as the drink itself :)
I have no suggestions for improving this photo because I like it just the way it is. I wouldn't change anything :)
Keep up the great work :)

| I'm finding it hard to critique a shot I gave a 9, but what if the background under the subject was a bit different? Brighter? Outdoors-y? Like the drink was served at a bbq or something...this is great, but it doesn't tell me anything - no story. |

| Mind mixing me up one? This is cool. I might have cropped of the very top edge of the picture so the water line isn't showing, but other then that, it's very well done. -danny |

| Looks mighty refreshing ! I can nearly taste this shot. Nice detail and color (though I think the super 'clear' ice cubes would have given this a improved look, maybe). |
