 Thanks to all of you for your generous votes and kind comments on my picture. It is such a thrill to win this Blue Ribbon. Who would have ever thought that a middle aged woman whose favorite activity besides taking pictures is knitting(NOT very extreme) - would get a blue ribbon for a challenge about extreme action!

Editing: Crop, levels, saturation, select shadow on face - lighten shadows; select lightest area of large wave on lower right - darken highlights by 1; resize, unsharp mask, burn highlights on boat and arm, save for web.

We went to Salida on Saturday the 9th. It is one of our favorite places to go. While walking by the river some kayakers were practicing - it was a good photo opportunity for Extreme Action. This guy must have been freezing. It was kind of chilly out and he was in that cold river with bare arms. The other kayakers had sort of wet suits on that covered them up.

I said this same thing to the others in the top three, because it is totally true:
Yours was one of seven shots I voted high on and said I wouldn't have any regret being beaten by... there were a number of others I was beat by as well...lol... but yours I didn't mind! :")
Plus, whitewater is just below photography on my favorite things to do list!
